Sun Sounds volunteers include college students, teachers, doctors, lawyers, homemakers, retirees, real estate agents, and many others. All volunteers are either behind the scenes support people or on-air talent. They have a diversity of backgrounds and interests, but all share a common desire to help provide current information to those who can’t read daily newspapers, magazines, shopping ads and best-selling books.
More than 500 volunteers statewide provide our network’s programming and office support system. Thus, it is easy to see why the success of Sun Sounds directly hinges on the dedication and talent of our volunteers. As a Sun Sounds volunteer, you are an integral part of the service, and your role in bringing the written word to thousands of print disabled Arizonans is one in which you should take great pride and satisfaction.
Sun Sounds is extremely respected by its peers, nationally and internationally. We have won many programming awards from the prestigious International Association of Audio Information Services. This is due in large part to the caliber of both our volunteers and our programming.
