We have many volunteer opportunities at Sun Sounds.
These support positions serve a very important role in our organization. They are our support system in operations, marketing, fundraising, and volunteer coordinating. Here is a brief overview of the volunteer positions that we are routinely looking for:
- Board Operators: We will train you to run a radio control board
- Clerical/Computer: Data entry, filing, phone work
- Radio Repair: Repairing SCA receivers
- Radio Delivery: Delivering receivers in your area
- Mailings: Participate in processing large mailings several times a year
- Speakers Bureau: Represent Sun Sounds at speaking events and health fairs
- Marketing: Contact media, company newsletters, and religious publications to promote the service
- Listener Support: Contact new listeners to offer support and guidance with service
- Grant Research: Assist Development Department with the grant process
- Surveyors: Call current listeners to complete listener surveys in which we ask their opinions on programming and services offered by Sun Sounds.
- Volunteer Coordinator: Assist with volunteer scheduling and coordinating duties
After filling out the volunteer application, you will be interviewed for the position that you believe you are best suited for. You’ll be given a tour of the facility and the opportunity to speak to the manager who will directly supervise you in your role at Sun Sounds. After further discussion, and if you are interested in assuming the position, you will be scheduled for the job.
Can I do both – help broadcast as well as lend support in the office or other support position? Yes, many of our volunteers lend their time in both categories. We have great flexibility here and welcome and encourage your participation in the many roles that you can take on at Sun Sounds.
How many hours must I commit to Sun Sounds?
The number of hours varies depending on your assignment at Sun Sounds. We ask for a minimum commitment of ten hours per month, but many of our volunteers give us fifteen to twenty hours per month
