The Sun Sounds Flagstaff station opened its doors for service January 19, 1995 to produce local audio programming for residents living in Northern Arizona.  Volunteers read local publications such as the Arizona Daily Sun, Northland Views, Williams/Grand Canyon News, The Winslow Mail, The Holbrook Tribune, Navajo-Hopi Observer, Navajo Times and Cottonwood Journal Extra.

More than sixty volunteers work in the studios as readers and board operators.  They also assist in fundraising, clerical, and outreach activities.
